Beaches for little ones
Finale has held the Blue Flag since 2008 and for the 2025 season also received the Green Flag, the paediatricians' award for child-friendly beaches. Finalpia has a gently shelving seabed and is quieter than the centre; at Varigotti the sand is golden and the water stays shallow for a good stretch. The Finalmarina seafront has shaded play areas and green spaces. More tips in our guide to Finale Ligure's beaches.
On the water
The Lega Navale di Finale Ligure runs canoe and kayak courses and snorkelling outings for children and teenagers, and in summer there are boat trips to spot whales and dolphins in the Pelagos Cetacean Sanctuary.
Finalborgo and the Archaeological Museum
Finalborgo, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, has well-preserved medieval walls, the colourful Piazza San Biagio and several ice-cream shops. In the cloisters of Santa Caterina is the Museo Archeologico del Finale, with finds from prehistory to Roman times and hands-on experimental archaeology workshops. It is closed on Mondays: check opening times before you go.
The Borgio Verezzi Caves
Five minutes from Perla del Borgo are the Borgio Verezzi Caves, among the most colourful in Italy, with small lakes, stalactites and stalagmites. Visits are guided: read our Borgio Verezzi guide for tips.
Easy walks
The Manie plateau has green trails above the sea and caves with prehistoric engravings, and some mountain bike routes are easy enough for a family outing. For older children used to walking there is the Pilgrim's Path between Varigotti and Noli.
Where to stay as a family
Acquamarina sleeps up to 6 and Smeraldo up to 4, both 20 metres from the sea in central Finale: you walk to the beach. Perla del Borgo, in Borgio Verezzi, sleeps 6, including a fold-away bunk bed. For cots or high chairs, message us before booking.
